No Summer calendar is complete without a trip to the polo, and this year, StyleSavvy® is excited to be working with this Summer’s most exciting event, The June Party in the Park, in aid of IMNDA. The IMNDA is the primary support organisation for individuals and families coping with the effects of MND in Ireland. Key services include home visiting by an MND dedicated nurse, financial assistance towards home care and the provision of specialist medical equipment on loan to clients. The June Party in the Park raises much-needed funds to support the organisation, and in the past three years have raised €200,000.

The first of its kind to hit Dublin, we are looking to our counterparts in the UK, for essential styling tips for the day. Similar to horse-racing days, polo events have become synonymous with high fashion and creative styling, drawing in the likes of the Royal family and celebrities alike. So check out our guide to nailing your polo attire.

Colour Pop

Polo and colour go hand in hand. A predominantly summer event, colour is key to getting your outfit right. Choose subtle, light colours, such as this River Island light blue suit and accessorise using similar light tones. Paler colours work best when used throughout the outfit because they maintain the smartness of the outfit while still allowing you to have a statement look. We have paired this suit with a Mr Jenks pocket square in deep tones to create a focal point for the outfit. (Remember: a pocket square shouldn’t match your outfit, but compliment it!)

Tonal Suiting

Tonal suiting is a popular menswear choice at the polo. Through choosing pieces in light tones such as white, beige or stone, you can create the perfect summer look worthy of the Hamptons. We have paired this white Zara suit with a light blue shirt and accessories with stone loafers and crisp, silver jewellery. We have used the pocket square for the focal point of the outfit choosing a base colour of white, decorated with a pop of colour. The key to tonal suiting is keeping it crisp, clean and fresh.

 Relaxed Tailoring

A foolproof outfit choice for the polo, relaxed tailoring consists of pairing key pieces such as your blazer and chinos to create a relaxed but classic look. We have chosen this Remus Uomo coloured blazer to add a pop of colour and paired it with a simple blue shirt, and white chinos. The floral print of the pocket square adds detail to the look, picking up the tones of the blazer. The key to this outfit is combining simplicity with subtle detail.

Classic Tailoring

For those who prefer classic tailoring, we have chosen this lightweight suit from Magee 1866. Polo is a summer event, and with that come hot weather, so make sure you choose lightweight materials and go for naval or pastel colours to avoid overheating! We have accessorised the suit with classic gold jewellery and a printed Mr Jenks pocket square. (Tip: navy, blue and red is a key colour combination that will work for almost any man!)

 Summer Suiting

For those who want to ditch their long trousers, go for a well-fitted, tailored short and pair it with a blazer for the ultimate smart, summer outfit. To keep the look classic and sophisticated, choose a smart loafer or boat shoe and pair it with elegant jewellery and a pocket square for extra debonair.
